Annie Romano [Edit]

Annie Romano is a San-Diego based leather titleholder, producer and community leader.

Early Life and Education

Romano was born in California in 1954 and is of Italian, English, and Scottish descent. She served in the United States Air Force from 1978 to 1985 as an Air Cargo Specialist and attained the rank of E6, or Tech Sgt.

In the Leather Community

Romano entered the leather community in 1990 and was trained by Rochelle Robinson and BC Cliver, both of the Bay Area. She held the title of Ms. San Diego Leather 1997/98 and competed at IMsL in 1998, placing 6th out of 17. Romano was honored with the title of the first Ms. World Leather in 2001 and devoted her title year to educating and raising awareness of Lupus, especially in the leather community. Romano raised $12,000 for the Lupus Foundation of San Diego.

Romano gave one of the keynote speeches at LLC in Los Angeles in 2011. She has taught a variety of classes in the leather community, both in San Diego and at conventions in other cities. She sat on the Elder Panel at the Women’s International Leather Legacy Weekend (WILL) in 2016 and gave the keynote speech there in August 2017.

Romano has also served as a judge for American Brotherhood Weekend and IMsL, as well as numerous other local and regional contests, most recently Ms. Los Angeles Leather 2017. She was co-producer for Ms San Diego Leather from 1999 through 2006 and a producer for San Diego Leather Pride from 2007 through 2016. Romano is a founding member of the San Diego Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the Asylum of the Tortured Heart – Sister Hecate of the Bodacious Tatas. She was an active member from 2005 through 2015 and is currently an Emeritus member.

Current Activity

Romano is the current producer of the Butch Revue which raises funds for San Diego Leather Pride. Professionally, she works as an administrative assistant at a San Diego catering company.

Personal Life

Romano was married to Jo Blas from 1999 to 2006. She is a member of the recovery community and has been sober for 29 years.
